Badges

There is a range of badges and awards available to young people in the Cub Scout Section. Completing badges and awards lets you do more, learn more and be more.

Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing several more ambitious tasks within the Pack or community. There are several challenge badges across several themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.

Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Cub Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests. Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing several more ambitious tasks within the Pack or community.

Staged Activity Badges are available to young people from Beavers to Explorers and cover a range of topics and skills. The stages have increasing levels of difficulty, and a Scout can begin at whichever stage offers them an appropriate level of challenge.

Chief Scout's Silver Award

This is the highest award a Cub can earn. To complete it, you need to earn six Activity or Staged Activity Badges of your choice, as well as all seven of the Challenge Awards. The Chief Scout’s Silver Award shows that you’ve given new things a go, played your part, and stuck it out, even when the going got tough. It’s a big achievement, and you should be proud.
